The Director General of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO), Dr. Renata Brazil-David, met with H.E. Patrick Hemmer, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the United States, for a productive exchange on ITSO’s activities, current priorities, and the increasingly important role of Luxembourg in the Organization.

The meeting was also attended by Ms. Annabelle Dullin, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Luxembourg and Ms. Aline Deffry, ITSO Director of External Affairs.

During the meeting, Dr. Brazil-David discussed a new chapter in the ITSO–Luxembourg relationship following SES’s acquisition of Intelsat in July 2025. With SES now responsible for fulfilling the obligations under the Public Services Agreement previously undertaken by Intelsat, Luxembourg, as the home country of SES, occupies a particularly important position in ITSO’s institutional framework.

The Director General emphasized that recent developments provide a new opportunity to strengthen cooperation among ITSO, Luxembourg and SES. She encouraged Luxembourg’s continued and enhanced engagement in ITSO’s work, including through the Assembly of Parties and other ITSO bodies and activities.

The discussions also addressed preparations for ITSO’s 42nd Assembly of Parties (AP-42), to be held in Washington, D.C., from 30 September to 2 October 2026, and the ITSO Symposium, “Satellite Developments Shaping Connectivity – An ITSO Perspective,” taking place on 29 September.

Dr. Brazil-David expressed her appreciation for the constructive dialogue with Ambassador Hemmer and looked forward to further strengthening the relationship between ITSO and Luxembourg as ITSO continues to advance its mission and adapt to the evolving global satellite communications environment.
