THE INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE ORGANIZATION HOLDS THE 40TH MEETING OF THE ASSEMBLY OF PARTIES
Washington DC, 30 June 2022 – The International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) held its 40th Meeting of the Assembly of Parties at American University’s Washington College of Law in Washington DC from 28 June to 30 June, 2022.
Representatives from 86 Member States of ITSO attended the Assembly of Parties. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Gilles Brégant, a representative of the Party of France and CEO of ANFR. Mr. Alexandru Cozma, a representative of the Party of Romania, Head of the International Organizations Unit of ANCOM served as Deputy Chairman.
The Assembly took important and key decisions concerning the organization including: the decision that the ITSO Agreement shall continue in effect and that ITSO shall continue to fulfill all of its responsibilities and obligations as set forth in the Agreement; the extension of the contract of the current Director General, Mr. Patrick Masambu, until 17 July 2025; and initiation of the selection process for a new Director General to take office as of July 2025, with the election of a new Director General to take place at the next Ordinary meeting of the Assembly of Parties in 2024.
The Assembly also decided to approve the ITSO budget for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2023; set up a new ITSO Advisory Committee comprising of the representatives of 23 Parties and extended the term of the Frequency Working Party, with the same composition, to the next ordinary Assembly of Parties meeting.
